Sima is the Director of Food Safety and Customer Standards for the Food Retail Services division of Ecolab. She is a food safety professional, trained in food science, food safety and microbiology.
Sima is a food safety professional, trained in food science, food safety and microbiology. Sima joined Ecolab in 2013, and has been leading the training and customer standards (audit services) programs for the last 3 years. Her responsibilities encompass training and managing the audit services growth, quality and data analytics for the over 340,000 audits conducted annually by the Food Retail Services division. Sima has recently also been leading the predictive analytics work for food retail.
After graduating from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Food Science in 1999, Sima began her career as a pathogen microbiologist. Shortly thereafter, she began providing food safety and HACCP consulting services to processing and manufacturing facilities. Sima entered the world of food retail in 2001 when she joined Delhaize as a regional retail Food Safety Manager. In 2011, Sima joined SuperValu as the Director of Food Safety for the Eastern region. Sima gained extensive food safety and retail knowledge in the twelve years she worked in food retail, which has been instrumental in her role at Ecolab.
Sima is a Certified Professional in Food Safety and an experienced certified food safety trainer. She is a member and subject-matter expert serving on exam writing committees for the National Environmental Health Association and the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals. Sima is an active member of the International Association of Food Professionals and the Conference for Food Protection serving on multiple committees.
